Responsibilities
Participate in customer meetings during quoting and project kickoff
Develop mechanical concepts for custom automation equipment
Create detailed 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks
Generate BOMs and release manufacturing drawings
Order mechanical components and coordinate with vendors/machine shops
Support build, assembly, and startup activities as needed
Collaborate closely with controls and electrical team members
Assist in refining design concepts through build and commissioning phases
Qualification
Required
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
5+ years designing custom automation equipment or machinery
Strong SolidWorks proficiency
Experience designing complete mechanical systems, not just individual components
Practical understanding of manufacturing processes
Ability to work in a small team environment
Strong communication skills
Preferred
Experience in robotic integration or automated cell design
Experience working with machine shops and vendors
Experience supporting machine startup or field troubleshooting
