2026 Intern - Mechanical Design Engineering - Onsite

Responsibilities
The qualified candidate will provide mechanical design and drafting to the Mechanical Engineering department
The candidate will under general direction, perform mechanical design and minor analysis, and may assist in the construction of infrared focal plane array packaging. Infrared focal plane array packaging may include but is not limited to designs for space based infrared modules, tactical vacuum dewars and uncooled vacuum packages
The candidate will assist the senior mechanical engineer in designing the product or tooling
The candidate will work closely with the manufacturing engineer to ensure that the product can be produced and will aid in the design of the necessary tools and equipment required to produce the product
The candidate will assist in the procurement of the program mechanical, electrical and optical components
Qualification
Required
This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of Summer 2026
Must be pursuing as bachelor's or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Preferred
Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems, preferably Pro-E/Creo
Knowledge of basic mechanical engineering, principles, theories, and concepts
