Principal Engineer, Team Lead - Behaviors

Talent Bridge is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer for their Behaviors team, which develops machine learning models for autonomous vehicles. The role involves leading projects to enhance vehicle navigation and managing a team focused on motion planning and prediction.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute projects to improve autonomous vehicles’ capability to safely and efficiently navigate complex traffic scenarios
Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers focused on motion planning and prediction
Design and guide implementation of behavior models leveraging machine learning, generative AI, and reinforcement learning techniques
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (e.g., perception, simulation, data platform, integration) to validate and enhance system performance
Productionize and deploy solutions on autonomous vehicle fleets
Communicate technical strategies, project progress, and challenges to leadership and stakeholders

Qualification

Required

Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related technical field; or equivalent professional experience
Proven experience leading large, complex technical initiatives and teams
Extensive experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
Strong programming experience, especially in Python and familiarity with scientific computing libraries
Demonstrated track record of designing, developing, and deploying machine learning solutions — preferably in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or adjacent domains
Advanced understanding of software engineering fundamentals including software design, source control, build systems, testing, and code reviews
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across distributed teams

Preferred

Experience with embedded systems and real‑time optimization, particularly in autonomous driving
Experience with reinforcement learning and state‑of‑the‑art generative AI methods
Publications at relevant machine learning or robotics conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR)
Strong programming skills in C++ and/or CUDA for performance‑critical code
