Fellow - Anaesthesia General - 2026
The Alfred Foundation is part of Bayside Health, a public health service delivering high-quality care across various stages of life. They are seeking a General Anaesthetic Fellow for a role commencing in August 2026, which provides extensive clinical experience and promotes the transition from Registrar to Consultant practice in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities
Gain experience in major trauma and burns anaesthesia, anaesthesia for general, hepatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal surgery, vascular anaesthesia, neurosurgical anaesthesia, and anaesthesia for major Head and Neck/ENT and ophthalmological surgery
Participate in a 1/14 roster which includes allocation to Sandringham Hospital where they function as a junior consultant
Average 86hrs/fortnight including on calls and out of hours work
Supervise junior trainees in theatre and participate in various education programs for registrars, hospital residents, medical students, ambulance officers and nursing staff
Become involved in the Department's active research unit and develop and execute research projects
Attend weekly teaching afternoons for all trainees including workshops, topical presentations by trainees and consultants, and quality improvement sessions
Qualification
Required
Successful completion of relevant post graduate exams at the time of application
Strong professional references
Highly motivated trainees who will work enthusiastically and respectfully as part of the Bayside Health Alfred Care Group team
Clear goals for the fellowship experience and their future career
International applicants should be at (or near the end of) their specialty training program
