Senior Project Engineer
Brightsmith is experiencing significant growth driven by unprecedented demand across data centers, power generation, and power delivery infrastructure. They are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to execute and deliver complex power infrastructure projects, acting as both a technical leader and a trusted client advisor.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage client-facing power infrastructure projects across data centers, generation, and utility delivery
Serve as a primary technical and project contact for assigned clients, ensuring high-quality delivery and trusted advisory support
Manage technical, regulatory, and financial aspects of power infrastructure projects
Coordinate internal resources and external stakeholders, including utilities, consultants, contractors, and developers
Lead project meetings, manage schedules, track budgets, and oversee deliverables
Review, develop, and provide markups/sketches using tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, and Bluebeam
Support utility coordination efforts, including service strategy, power planning, and schedule alignment
Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes as the firm scales
Mentor and guide project engineers as the team grows
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred
8+ years of experience in power infrastructure, utility, or mission-critical project environments
Strong project management experience across complex infrastructure projects
Hands-on experience with electric utility power infrastructure, including one or more of the following: Medium voltage distribution design and construction, Substation design and construction, Utility metering and service coordination, Power generation or large-load customers
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT or path to licensure also considered
Experience supporting or delivering projects for data centers or other mission-critical facilities is strongly preferred
Highly motivated, self-directed professional who takes pride in delivering exceptional work
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Organized, analytical, and proactive problem solver
Comfortable managing multiple projects with competing priorities
Collaborative team player who enjoys contributing to a growing, evolving organization
Willingness to learn continuously and adapt as the business scales
Able to work independently in a fully remote environment
Willingness to travel to client sites, including occasional overnight visits
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT or path to licensure also considered
Experience supporting or delivering projects for data centers or other mission-critical facilities is strongly preferred
Acting as an Owner's Engineer or Owner's Representative for utility or power projects
Direct involvement with transmission and/or distribution systems
Experience with building electrical infrastructure, such as switchgear, emergency generation, or critical power systems
Utility coordination, rate analysis, or power master planning exposure
Strong one-on-one client interaction and relationship management
