Lead Systems Engineer – Deployable Habitat Architecture

Searchability Aerospace & Defense is developing a deployable, modular habitat system designed for sustained human presence beyond Earth. The Lead Systems Engineer will lead the end-to-end architecture of this habitat platform, defining how various systems integrate into a cohesive, flight-ready system, directly shaping the future of off-planet habitation.

Responsibilities

Define overall system architecture for a deployable, pressurized habitat
Drive requirements flow-down across mechanical, ECLSS, thermal, structural, and soft goods subsystems
Lead mass, power, and volume trades for surface deployment scenarios
Design for extreme environments: vacuum, radiation, micrometeoroids, regolith, and thermal cycling
Architect deployment mechanisms (inflatable or mechanically deployable systems)
Integrate Environmental Control & Life Support Systems (ECLSS) into a modular habitat structure
Own verification strategy: ground testing, environmental validation, and lunar demo readiness
Partner with propulsion, ISRU, and surface operations teams to ensure system compatibility

Required

You have worked deeply on at least one of the following: Environmental Control & Life Support Systems (ECLSS), Human-rated pressure vessels or pressurized modules, Spacecraft or surface-system thermal control, Advanced soft goods (inflatable structures, flexible pressure shells, seals, fabrics)

Preferred

Experience on programs such as: Crew Dragon, New Shepard, Or equivalent human spaceflight, commercial crew, or suborbital/LEO vehicle programs involving crewed systems and human-rating requirements
