Responsibilities
Design and implement end-to-end modern data architectures on the Azure cloud platform, encompassing data lakes, data warehouses, and advanced analytics solutions
Define scalable, secure, and high-performing architecture patterns aligned with business objectives
Lead the development and optimization of robust data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, Azure Databricks, and dbt
Establish coding standards, CI/CD best practices, and reusable frameworks for data engineering initiatives
Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data models to support business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics use cases
Define and enforce enterprise-wide data modeling standards and governance frameworks
Drive the overall strategy for the cloud data platform, embedding security, compliance, governance, and cost optimization principles into the architecture
Ensure adherence to data privacy, access control, and monitoring best practices
Lead the planning and execution of migration initiatives from on-premises data warehouses and legacy systems to Azure
Minimize downtime, ensure data accuracy, and implement validation and reconciliation processes
Partner with data engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Mentor and guide junior team members on cloud data architecture principles, performance optimization, and industry best practices
Qualification
Required
Overall Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering or Data Architecture, with a minimum of 4+ years in a senior or architect-level role focused on cloud-based data solutions, preferably leveraging Databricks
Azure Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience across the Azure data ecosystem, including: Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL and related Azure data services
Databricks Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in architecting and implementing large-scale data processing and analytics solutions using Azure Databricks, including ETL/ELT development, performance optimization, and distributed data processing
Modern Data Tooling: Strong practical experience with dbt for data transformation, modeling, testing, and deployment within modern cloud data warehouse environments
Data Warehousing & Modeling: Solid understanding of enterprise data warehousing principles, including: Kimball and Inmon methodologies, Dimensional modeling, Star and Snowflake schema design, Data lifecycle and governance best practices
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or ARM templates to provision and manage Azure cloud resources
