Project Controls Analyst
PTAG is a Project Management Advisory & Services firm trusted by leading utilities and infrastructure owners across North America. They are currently seeking a Senior Project Controls Analyst to support a multi-year, large-scale electric utility capital program in California, focusing on integrated cost and schedule control for high-voltage transmission and substation projects.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6
Perform cost forecasting, variance analysis, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) development
Support Earned Value Management (SPI, CPI) and performance trend analysis
Align cost and schedule data to ensure reliable executive-level reporting
Develop and maintain risk-adjusted forecasts and contingency visibility
Support high-voltage Transmission (115kV+) and Substation capital projects
Track outage-driven work sequencing and energization milestones
Ensure alignment between field execution, contractor performance, and capital baselines
Monitor portfolio-level cost and schedule performance across multiple concurrent projects
Prepare weekly and monthly executive-ready reports including KPIs, progress curves, burn rates, and forecast narratives
Support IOU capital governance cadence, stage-gate reviews, and audit readiness
Manage change control processes and assess cost and schedule impacts
Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, and Estimators to ensure scope alignment
Maintain disciplined documentation in accordance with client standards
Operate effectively in high-visibility, Fortune 500 utility environments
Demonstrate strong executive communication skills and professional presence
Exhibit accountability, ownership, and proactive issue resolution
Maintain consistent reliability in schedule, reporting cadence, and stakeholder engagement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related discipline
10+ years of project controls experience on major capital infrastructure programs
Direct experience supporting high-voltage Transmission & Distribution and/or Substation projects
Experience within regulated Investor-Owned Utility (IOU), EPC, or major electrical construction environments
Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale capital portfolios ($250M+ preferred)
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel
Strong understanding of Earned Value Management, cost forecasting, and schedule integration
Experience with capital governance tools such as SAP, EcoSys, Prism, or similar
Ability to operate in matrixed, multi-stakeholder environments
Strong analytical, communication, and executive reporting skills
Preferred
Experience supporting multi-year grid modernization or resiliency programs
PMI, AACEI (CCP, PSP), or equivalent certifications
Experience working within Fortune 500 utility or major EPC environments
