The role involves installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise UNIX/Linux environments, supporting mission-critical applications with a focus on automation and system optimization.

Responsibilities
Install, configure, patch, and maintain IBM AIX (6.x/7.x) systems
Administer SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) environments
Manage LPARs, VIO Servers, and HMC on IBM Power Systems
Perform OS upgrades, security hardening, and compliance remediation
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot OS-level issues
Manage and support VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter environments
Create and maintain virtual machines (VMs)
Perform VM provisioning, cloning, migrations (vMotion), and snapshots
Manage resource allocation (CPU, memory, storage)
Work with VMware HA/DRS clusters
Support disaster recovery and backup solutions
Develop scripts using Shell (Bash/ksh), Python
Implement automation using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform
Manage patch automation and configuration management
Implement security best practices for Linux/AIX systems
Perform vulnerability remediation
Manage user access, sudo policies, and system auditing
Work with SAN/NAS storage environments
Configure multipathing and storage allocation
Support enterprise backup tools (NetBackup, Veeam, etc.)
Coordinate with network, database, application, and cloud teams
Participate in on-call support rotation
Maintain documentation and runbooks
Qualification
Required
5+ years of AIX administration experience
5+ years of Linux administration (SUSE preferred)
Strong experience with VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter
Experience with IBM Power Systems (LPAR, VIO, HMC)
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting
Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, Splunk, etc.)
Preferred
Experience with PowerVM virtualization
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
Container experience (Docker/Kubernetes)
DevOps exposure (CI/CD pipelines)
SUSE, Red Hat, VMware, or IBM certifications
