Responsibilities

Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions
Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team
Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process
Adhere to the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers
Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable
Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client’s leadership
Develop budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed
Review payroll and payroll tax compliance

Required

Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree
6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required
Accounting back-office experience is required
Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems
Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
This position works primarily in-office and requires frequent local travel to/from client sites

Preferred

CPA certification is preferred but not required
Relevant experience in the Higher Education industry is highly preferred!
Public accounting experience preferred but not required
QuickBooks experience is preferred
