Responsibilities

With minimal supervision, evaluate progressively complex, customer biomedical equipment issues
Implement appropriate repairs, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety/environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations
Follow appropriate GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation, meeting strict quality measurable metrics outlined in the contractually agreement between GE HealthCare and their customers
Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction. Implement GE / customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives
Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area or region. Share on-call responsibility
Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies
Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction
Comply with all required customer policies including Health and Human Services, Privacy, and Environment Health & Safety
Perform other related duties as assigned including but not limited to active participation in customer committees
Selected candidate will be required to work alternating shifts

Required

Graduate (or about to graduate) Technician or Technologists Diploma, Or, a degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering or other related field, OR equivalent experience and training
Ability to perform effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment
Biomedical equipment asset management system
Patient monitor information and database systems
Physiological measurement devices
Proficient computer skills including a functional knowledge of common business software such as MS Office
Basic Networking / IT infrastructure
Experience using Mechanical Tools and understanding of basic mechanical problems
Previous experience developing and maintaining good customer relationships
A valid Ontario driver's license
Demonstrates evidence of active approach to problem resolution
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think innovatively and independently
Demonstrated commitment to maintaining/enhancing professional competence through participation in appropriate continuing education activities
Ability to maintain skills in an escalated paced environment
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team approach and to adhere to the accepted standards of personal conduct
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to interface with all levels of management is required
Ability to quickly learn and utilize various corporate or computer-based applications
Maintains the work area as clean as possible during and after work
Performs corrective and preventive maintenance as per manufacturer specifications and compliant with policies and procedures outlined in Biomed Policy and CSA Standards
Maintains personal activity records for department including opening and closing work requisitions on the computer
Maintains dialysis equipment, if certified to do so
Provide Clinical input to users as needed for evaluations and purchase decisions

Advanced Networking/IT
Advanced Biomedical Diploma with GE specific site Practicum Experience
Current technical training in GE products eg Aisys, B850 etc
OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists) membership
