Boiler Inspector
The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a skilled Boiler Inspector to join their regulatory team. The role involves performing safety inspections on various boilers and pressure vessels to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, contributing to the safety and health of Iowans.

Responsibilities
Perform safety inspections on all known and registered boilers (high and low pressure), pressure vessels, their required and/or additionally installed safety controls, the equipment rooms, related systems, and maintenance and/or chemical treatment logs to ensure their compliance with Iowa Code and Administrative Rules (chapters 89-96), The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, National Board Inspection Code (NBIC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the International Mechanical Code (IMC)
Inspection of new boilers and pressure vessels or replacement equipment. This task involves checking for such requirements as: proper material strength and specifications, proper use and installation of safety devices, and review of welding of piping and internal and external construction
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or G.E.D
Five years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, or inspection of boilers or allied gauges, pumps, radiators equipment, or in the capacity of power plant engineer, or steam operating engineer, or boiler maker or boiler inspector
An equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the required experience for each year of the required education, with a maximum substitution of four years
All appointees to this classification must successfully complete registration as a National Board Commission member with the National Boiler Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors within one (1) year of hire
Travel is required for positions in this class. Employees must arrange transportation to and from assigned work areas
