Responsibilities
Manage day‑to‑day operations of the laboratory
Supervise lab staff and provide technical support, coaching, and training
Ensure all work follows SOPs and meets NELAP, IDPH, and CDC ELITE requirements
Oversee quality control, documentation, and audit readiness
Perform and review testing for waterborne pathogens, including Legionella and THAB
Maintain laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and supply inventory
Receive, log, and process chemistry and microbiology samples
Communicate results clearly to clients and internal teams
Support research, process improvements, and digital data integration
Ensure proper safety practices and serve as the lab’s safety contact
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field (or equivalent experience)
NELAP certification required
5+ years of laboratory experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
Strong knowledge of chemistry and microbiology
Effective leadership and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and LIMS systems
Ability to work safely with hazardous materials
Preferred
HACCP certification
