The Engineering Technician 3 role involves providing technical support to engineers, maintaining and manipulating technical data, and producing engineering documentation while ensuring the safe execution of work processes.

Responsibilities
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data
Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports
May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
Review work scopes and develop, review, and revise as required the execution of Navy Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) and Safety Tag-out documents along with work isolations in support of safe and efficient work execution
Ensure training and qualification on all work control and tag-out processes are obtained and maintained
Approves issuance of WAFs, Work Permits, and Safety Tag-out for assigned systems
Provides expertise in the development, planning, and scheduling for WAFs, Work Permits, and Safety Tag-out
Provides on-site resolution of related problems and technical issues to prevent delays and ensure the integrity, safe work, testing, and operation of responsible systems
Possess a strong ability to determine the work requirements
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
NNS Apprentice School graduate
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
Preferred
Knowledge and experience with Work Authorization Forms (WAF) and work permit processes
Understanding and hands-on experience with ship mechanical systems (Fire main, H.P. & L.P. air, CHT, A/C, chilled water systems) and/or shipboard electrical power and distribution systems
Prior U.S. Navy/Shipyard experience with ESOMS/ETAG tagout systems
Ability to read and interpret system drawings and diagrams to determine system isolations for production work
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and perform ship checks on equipment as needed
