Criminal Intelligence Analyst I

Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a Criminal Intelligence Analyst I to assist investigations with intelligence gathering and data collection. The role involves analyzing and disseminating criminal intelligence, coordinating information among various agencies, and ensuring officer safety through accurate data interpretation.

Responsibilities

Respond to requests from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies for background and workup information available on reported and suspected criminals, businesses, organized criminal groups, etc
Perform strategic analysis on projects assigned by supervisor
Utilize databases to include criminal history, vehicle (AVIS), driver’s license, corrections, court information, Virtual Intelligence System (VIS) database and numerous other systems to develop associations, linkages, crime patterns, etc
Review, research, and disseminate information/intelligence received by the Intelligence Branch; checking it for acceptability and validity before entering it into the VIS database
Serve as KSP intelligence representative at local, regional, and statewide intelligence and information sharing meetings as assigned by the chain of command
Prepare monthly, annual, and special reports for officer safety and unique crime trends as needed and, or, requested by direct supervisor or the chain of command

Required

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree
Knowledge of computer programs and technical skills
Ability to assist investigations with intelligence gathering
Ability to compile, analyze, and disseminate information and criminal intelligence from various agencies
Ability to coordinate inter-state and intra-state information pertaining to criminal activity
Ability to interpret and analyze raw intelligence data
Ability to research criminal information using the NCIC/LINK terminal
Responsible for data entry into the Intelligence Information System database
Ability to identify suspected perpetrators and develop personal and criminal history for investigators
