Engineer Intern 1 or 2
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking an Engineer Intern to support environmental investigations and engineering analyses for transportation projects across Louisiana. This role involves problem-solving, field work, data-driven analysis, and technical writing, allowing interns to gain experience applying environmental regulations to real infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
Assist senior staff with environmental investigations and technical studies supporting environmental documents
Prepare simple technical documents, exhibits, and supporting materials; maintain organized project documentation
Participate in field investigations and technical meetings to learn DOTD environmental processes and project delivery
Support environmental modeling activities (air/noise) and assist with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments under supervision
Review and provide comments on technical documents prepared by consultants and other project partners
Learn and apply applicable laws, rules, and regulations (including NEPA and related requirements) through training and guided project work
Use applicable software and tools to support analysis, mapping, and documentation
Assist with DOTD public involvement activities (scheduling, set-up, attendance, exhibits, and documentation for meetings/hearings)
Perform other duties as assigned, including emergency/disaster support activities
Qualification
Required
Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate
Applications will be accepted from persons who possess a current Engineer Intern Certificate in states other than Louisiana. However, the applicant will be required to obtain a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate prior to appointment
