Analyst, Finance
Commonwealth LNG is an integrated natural gas and LNG company focused on responsible sourcing of low-emission fuel. They are seeking an Analyst, Finance to join their financing team responsible for arranging project finance and construction equity, which is critical for the success of their LNG export terminal.
Responsibilities
Responsible for creating, modifying and manipulating Excel models to inform company leadership decisions, financial advisors, sensitivity testing, and presentations to third parties
Conduct monthly review and analysis of assigned projects to determine if there are any budgetary risks
Conduct detailed financial, valuation, and cash flow modeling for LNG projects, including construction draw schedules, operating scenarios, and long‑term commercial structures
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to validate assumptions related to construction progress, O&M costs, production forecasts, and commercial agreements
Assess and optimize the company's capital structure by evaluating different financing options, including debt and equity
Play a key role in raising capital for strategic projects, including partnering with financial institutions, and assisting with debt issuance processes
Review draft financing documentation, technical reports, and commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with financial models, project assumptions, and key commercial considerations
Conduct due diligence flows to lenders consultants, bankers, lawyers, technical teams
Work closely with leadership, staff and advisors to summarize and present complex qualitative and financial information into materials for investors, lenders and the executive team to make decisions
Analyze project data to produce standard and ad-hoc reports, dashboards and insights to support decision making
Assist in interfacing with rating agencies, including model preparation, creating presentations, and managing diligence process
Partner with FP&A, including budgeting and forecasting to manage capital draws from banks and investors, and overall corporate liquidity
Contribute to board materials, ensuring financial analyses are accurate, well‑supported, and aligned with strategic objectives
Monitor market trends in LNG, natural gas, interest rates, and capital markets to inform financing strategy and project assumptions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or similar degree
2+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in investment banking or project financing required
Prior experience building new models from scratch
Modeling debt, proforma projections, financial statements, and valuations in Excel
Model various equity structures including equity waterfall
Knowledge/Experience with set-up and maintenance of financing and/or M&A transaction processes, including: Establish and review of virtual data rooms, Creation of debt and/or equity offering memos, Investment / credit memos etc
Experience reviewing and commenting on energy and financing related documentation, including: Loan documentation, partnership agreements, sale and purchase agreements, commodity purchase agreements (e.g. power, LNG etc.), equity contribution agreements, etc
Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and proactively manage workload by seeking additional support as needed
Presentable to external investors, bankers, and executive leadership with the ability to speak extemporaneously about familiar topics
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a propensity for attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time effective manner with minimal supervision
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to stakeholders at various levels within and external to the organization
Preferred
Familiarity with the energy industry, industry themes, trends and drivers of LNG sector. Preference for some direct LNG experience
