Data Center Technician

Responsibilities
Operation and monitoring of critical environmental support equipment, including:
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDU), Remote Power Panels (RPP), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), In-Row Chillers (IRC), fire suppression systems, security systems, and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems
Enforce best practice for access, ensuring all personnel are properly cleared
Ensure physical security of the data center spaces and IT security of the equipment
Monitor the data center’s status utilizing DCIM tool to confirm power and cooling are delivered as expected
React according to procedures for any out-of-standard measurements
Receive, process, and control old equipment and media for disposal through approved methods
Provide warehouse operations to receive, store, and track incoming and outgoing equipment
Qualification
Required
One (1) year of experience with Information Technology, customer service, and/or facility physical security
Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment, including Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or other related technical degrees
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications
Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications
If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis
OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed
