The Co-Op will work closely with experienced engineers to help structure engineering knowledge for effective AI use.

Responsibilities
Reviewing and understanding HVAC mechanical and control documentation (e.g., P&IDs, control logic, alarm definitions)
Assisting with the construction and organization of a Facilities and Controls Knowledge Base for AI consumption
Supporting Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows, including testing and refinement
Working with BAS and controls concepts such as: HVAC control strategies for critical environments, Sensors, actuators, and control loops, BACnet communication, Time-series data (e.g., OSI PI)
Assisting with testing AI responses using Moderna’s corporate ChatGPT platform
Supporting documentation and procedure development
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or higher degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems / Automation, Robotics or Mechatronics, Or a related Engineering program
Interest in automation, control systems, and applied AI
Ability to read and interpret technical engineering documentation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Comfortable learning new tools and technical domains
Interest in system-level thinking across mechanical, controls, and data domains
This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna's site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work

Preferred
Coursework or experience in: Control systems or automation, HVAC systems or building systems, Data analysis, scripting, or software tools (Python, JSON/YAML, Node-RED, etc.)
Exposure to PLCs, DDCs, or BAS concepts
Interest in AI-enabled engineering tools or data-driven systems
