Responsibilities
Plans, sets up, executes tests and analyzes and reports results and recommendations
Helps design then builds cab mockups for testing at the Tech Center and the Proving Grounds
This is a very hands-on job and requires a lot of periods of collaboration then self-direction
A typical day will include getting updates on development plans with the sound engineers, altering and building structures to install concepts, setting up instruments such as microphones and troubleshooting as required, running tests with or without machine operators
During planning and documentation stages, the day will include meetings with Design teams, most of which are teleconferences
Qualification
Required
5-7 years of experience
A BS degree in an Engineering curriculum that included dynamics labs in NVH - Noise, Vibration, Harshness (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.)
Good communication skills
Interpreting frequency data
Good understanding of mechanical and audio systems
Knowledge with instrumentation like microphones, accelerometers and how to apply them
Experience processing/interpreting high frequency data
Experience with troubleshooting and fixing mechanical systems
Experience with audio concepts like intelligibility metrics, etc
High initiative, good communication, strong teamwork
Ability to perform physical work (climb machines, turn wrenches, etc.)
Work or hobby experience with hand tools and carpentry, car audio installation, etc
