Architect 1 (NY HELPS) - Long Island - Capital Bureau
New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation is seeking an Architect 1 to perform professional architectural work. The role involves planning, designing, and reviewing architectural drawings for various building projects, while also supervising assistants and coordinating with engineers and contractors.

Responsibilities
Perform professional architectural work in the planning, design, or technical review of drawings and related details for the creation, construction, rehabilitation, or restoration of buildings and facilities
Supervise assistants in architectural work
Coordinate the services of engineers and contractors on specific projects
Manage design professionals on specific projects
Perform technical reviews of consultants’ drawings, specifications, and reports
Ensure compliance with applicable requirements
Provide advice and guidance to individuals and groups involved with the project
Qualification
Required
You must have a New York State Professional Architect's License and current registration
Candidates must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license as a term and condition of employment
Current NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Employees only, with at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as an Architect 1
Candidates must have one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Facilities Planner 2, SG 23 OR a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Construction), SG 24, AND have a New York State Professional Architect's License and current registration
Candidates must be in the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation promotion field and have at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as an Assistant Architect AND must possess a New York State Architect's license and current registration at the time of appointment
Preferred
Knowledge of current New York State Building Codes a plus
