Responsibilities
Design and develop detailed electrical harness layouts, wire routing, connector specifications, and bill-of-materials for new product projects
Fabricate prototype harnesses in-house, performing cutting, stripping, crimping, and manual/reflow soldering of wires and terminations
Assemble, populate, and modify Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), applying soldering techniques (hand solder, wave, reflow) and component placement as required
Conduct lab-level functional and environmental testing of harnesses and CCAs, including continuity, insulation resistance, voltage/current stress, EMI/EMC, and vibration/shock validation
Perform root-cause analysis on failed hardware, troubleshoot wiring and board issues, and implement corrective actions to improve design robustness
Collaborate with mechanical design, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure electrical integration aligns with overall system architecture and production constraints
Manage revision control of harness drawings, wiring diagrams, and CCA schematics using CAD tools (e.g., Altium, Mentor, or similar)
Support pilot production runs by providing technical guidance, training junior technicians, and ensuring consistent build quality
Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives, suggesting design optimizations, material cost reductions, and process efficiencies
Qualification
Required
BS degree in an engineering discipline; preferably in an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering field with 5 years' experience or a MS with 3 years' experience in a related field
Experience in mixed signal CCA's (Circuit Card Assemblies) product design, development and system level integration
Develops, coordinates and conducts power budget analysis, electrical system schematic, safety critical system and grounding scheme per provided requirements for existing and new development efforts
Conduct verification and validation (V&V) testing as well as Conduct system-level testing
Must have strong troubleshooting skills and ability to systematically work though de-bugging process while maintaining proper documentation
Active Secret Clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years
Preferred
Familiar with PWB (Printed Wiring Board) design rules and techniques for CCA's with >20 layers count from initial prototype to production. Knowledge of EDA tools package such as Mentor Graphics or equivalent
Hands-on laboratory experience designing and fabricating electrical harnesses (wire routing, connector selection, custom cable assembly)
Proficient in both manual and reflow soldering techniques
Functional testing and validation of circuit-card assemblies (CCA) to verify electrical performance, safety, and reliability
Experience with MIL-STD compliant designs that meet reliability and maintainability requirements
Ability to own and drive design reviews throughout development process. Collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers, and hardware engineers in planning design and development of systems to ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility
