The Cybersecurity Intern will support the Cybersecurity teams in safeguarding corporate and customer environments while gaining hands-on experience in threat hunting, cloud security engineering, and secure development practices.

Responsibilities
Support daily monitoring, triage, and analysis of security alerts, leveraging SIEM, EDR, and AI‑assisted detection platforms
Participate in threat hunting activities by analyzing log data, anomalies, cloud telemetry, and behavioral indicators to identify emerging threats
Assist in initial investigation and support Tier‑1/Tier‑2 teams in diagnosing potential security events
Learn and apply Epicor’s incident response processes; contribute to evidence collection and documentation
Use AI‑enhanced capabilities to speed up alert triage, pattern recognition, and threat intelligence correlation
Support the engineering team in improving security control automation across cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS)
Identify new solutions to increase and improve Epicor’s security posture
Participate in configuration reviews, baseline hardening, and compliance checks against internal standards
Explore opportunities to build security automation using scripting or modern languages (Python, PowerShell, or Go)
Assist in conducting secure code reviews, using SAST/DAST & SCA tooling and AI‑augmented code analysis
Support threat modeling discussions with developers
Participate in dependency vulnerability tracking (SCA tools) and remediation planning
Learn and apply modern AppSec practices for SaaS applications (input validation, authentication flows, secure APIs, OWASP Top 10)
Contribute to developing and updating security standards, playbooks, and internal documentation
Help evaluate emerging security technologies, especially AI‑driven defensive tools
Participate in internal knowledge‑sharing, user awareness initiatives, and technical write‑ups
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field—or relevant alternative coursework (bootcamps, certificates, hands‑on labs, etc.)
Foundational experience with Operating systems (Windows, Linux)
Foundational experience with Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, proxies, VPNs)
Foundational experience with Scripting or programming skills (Python preferred; PowerShell, Bash, JavaScript, or Go beneficial)
Interest or exposure to Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS; GCP optional)
Interest or exposure to Security tools (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, code scanners)
Interest or exposure to Container security (Docker/Kubernetes)
Interest or exposure to Version control (Git/GitHub)
Strong analytical skills and curiosity—especially for identifying anomalies or suspicious activity
Interest in adversarial thinking, reverse‑engineering, or red/blue team concepts
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across Security Ops, Engineering, IT, and Development teams
High motivation to learn cloud security and AI‑enabled security technologies
Strong organizational skills and willingness to document findings clearly
Coursework, labs, personal projects, or hands‑on experience from internships/bootcamps
Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through Participation in CTFs, hackathons, or cybersecurity clubs
Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through Self‑hosted home labs
Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through GitHub projects, coding exercises
Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through Cloud certifications or hands‑on learning platforms (TryHackMe, HackTheBox, Immersive Labs)
Preferred
Familiarity with secure coding principles
API security basics
Understanding of identity platforms (e.g., Entra ID/LDAP)
Preferred early‑career certifications: CompTIA Security+
Preferred early‑career certifications: ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)
Preferred early‑career certifications: Google Cybersecurity Certificate
Preferred early‑career certifications: Microsoft SC‑900 / AZ‑900 / MS‑900
Preferred early‑career certifications: GIAC Foundational (if available)
