Army System Engineer

The Army System Engineer will be responsible for applying innovative approaches to complex engineering problems in the development of Army unmanned aircraft systems, focusing on data modeling, software architecture, and requirements management for Ground Command and Control software.

Responsibilities
Develop and Maintain Data Models: Design, implement, and maintain robust data models to support Ground Command and Control (C2) software systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with system requirements
Architect Ground C2 Software Solutions: Lead the development of software architecture for Ground Command and Control systems, ensuring modularity, interoperability, and adherence to industry standards and best practices
Requirements Development and Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to elicit, document, and manage software requirements for Ground C2 systems, ensuring traceability and alignment with overall system capabilities
Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Utilize model-based systems engineering tools and methodologies to define, analyze, and refine system requirements, interfaces, and behaviors for Ground C2 software
Perform Software Integration and Testing: Conduct integration and testing of Ground C2 software systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless interaction between software components and system hardware
Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and design improvements within Ground C2 software development, focusing on optimizing performance and reducing development cycle times
Technical Leadership and Documentation: Provide technical guidance to design and development teams, prepare detailed technical documentation, and deliver presentations to stakeholders to communicate progress and outcomes effectively
Gain domain expertise in part or in whole of the Gray Eagle system
Drive success through requirements development, system integration testing, and supporting cross-functional organizations in understanding required system capabilities
Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Performs other duties as assigned
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, four or more years of experience with a master's degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties
Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects
Able to work extended hours as required
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required
Preferred
Open architecture, software engineering, software development, and/or UAS command and control experience is a plus
A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable
