Quality Engineer - Architecture

The Quality Engineer - Architecture will work closely with key customers to establish and deliver the quality architecture for windows and doors designed with Corning Enlighten Glass, ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout product development and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities
Collaborates with research, development, engineering and manufacturing functions on new product development, research activities, and execution of complex projects to ensure quality standards are in place
Evaluate the impact of product, process and equipment changes on product attributes
Interfaces with New Product Development teams, Product Engineering, and Operations to understand customer needs, design experimentation, demonstrate or extend capability, and document results
Leads process improvement and lean programs and activities
Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, equipment layout or other aspects of the process to optimize quality, efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials
Ensures that a robust quality architecture is developed for new processes and products at the organizational level
Facilitates efforts in understanding process capability and product quality architecture
Facilitates root cause analysis on products and processes not meeting specified standards and requirements
Work with engineering on proactive sustainable solutions vs. reactive responses
Hold/ evaluate/ release ware produced under non-standard conditions
Perform experimental designs and data analysis. Documents results
Instills a quality focused culture in which everyone feels ownership for quality and acts accordingly
Learn & understand process & equipment functions in area of responsibility
Lead efforts to identify vulnerabilities or quality issues, assign ownership, and ensure action implementation for improvement
Develop, communicate, and report quality performance metrics to teams, plant operations staff, and functional leaders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Math, Science, Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing and RD&E environment with experience in PCPD, utilizing quality systems, and data analysis
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively lead a diverse group of people and influence at all levels of the organization
Experience with leading teams and projects to meet significant continuous improvement goals, cost reduction or performance improvement initiatives
Ability to work independently with strong time management and prioritization skills to handle multiple assignments and interact with product teams
Experience in manufacturing, quality or process engineering
Excellent data collection and analysis skills; basic understanding of statistics and control charts
Familiarity with Quality Systems, audits, TL and ISO Certifications or other types of Quality certifications
Structured problem-solving skills to drive to root cause
Effective in Project Management
Up to 25% travel required
Preferred
Experience working on teams in new product/process introduction/receiving, process improvements, and root cause analysis
Experience in developing and using Data Analytics dashboards
Experience with various statistical packages like JMP and Minitab
Six Sigma Black or Green Belt or DMAIC project experience
Drive for root cause fundamental understanding of challenging problems
Display a bias for action in situations of uncertainty, with pro-active attention to issues and problems
Work well both within a multi-disciplined team, and independently with minimal oversight, and thoroughly carries assignments to completion
