2026 College Student Summer Internship Program - Atlanta City Council
The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management is seeking motivated and civic-minded summer interns to support the work of Council offices and legislative staff. Interns will contribute to a wide range of administrative, research, and project-based assignments that advance the Council’s mission and improve service to Atlanta residents.

Responsibilities
Provide administrative, clerical, and project support to Council offices and staff
Conduct research and collect data to support policy initiatives, constituent services, and departmental projects
Compile, analyze, and prepare reports, summaries, and briefing materials
Draft routine correspondence, memoranda, forms, and other documents using standard office software
Assist in preparing presentations for internal and external audiences
Respond to routine inquiries from elected officials, staff, community members, and partner organizations
Attend project meetings, community events, neighborhood gatherings, and team briefings as needed
Organize and maintain electronic filing systems and assist with document management
Communicate with internal departments, external stakeholders, and community partners
Participate in on‑the‑job training to learn operational policies, procedures, and best practices
Follow standardized procedures and written instructions to complete assignments
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a career school certification and/or associate, bachelor, master, or higher degree in an appropriate discipline for the department in which person is an intern (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills
Clear and effective verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to quickly learn new information, processes, and systems
Ability to independently gather information and translate it into clear, usable work products
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to work collaboratively in a professional environment
