Responsibilities
Design a broad range of mechanical systems to support commercial and government projects
Develop and conduct experiments to analyze existing designs and products
Lead mechanical engineering design work on multidisciplinary teams with mechanical, electrical, chemical and systems engineers
Communicate with clients, project managers, and non-engineering technical staff to define project requirements and deliverables
Provide preliminary design concepts and technical input to commercial and government project proposals
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 9 years' experience; advanced degrees/certifications can be used in lieu of experience
Proficient with CAD software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS)
Demonstrated knowledge in common fabrication equipment/techniques (e.g., Manual and CNC machining, Additive Manufacturing)
Experience with prototyping and Design-For-Manufacturing principles
Willingness to work in a laboratory or field environment
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to learn new software systems
Good documentation and organizational skills
Available for periodic travel, estimated at 4-12 weeks per year
Desire to work with other team members to solve complex multidisciplinary challenges
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Motivated self-starter
Must be a US Citizen
Current government security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
