Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Regional Maintenance Engineer to develop the Region’s force account preventive maintenance (PM) program and maintain auditable records of completed work
Administer the Aggregate Stockpiling Program by understanding material site resources and site-specific requirements
Manage new production contracts; coordinate with district staff to identify future material needs, quality requirements, and material types; and work with internal and external partners to secure material sale agreements, permits, mining plans, and other documentation required for production
Assist in managing contracts (as-needed and other types) in support of M&O operations, with familiarity in both Supply and Construction contracts administered through AASHTOWare
Provide engineering and program support to M&O staff throughout NR, including assistance with engineering, funding, regulatory, environmental, and other requirements in support of DOT&PF’s mission
Support emergency response and recovery efforts by responding to and helping manage repairs when DOT infrastructure is damaged by fires, floods, earthquakes, or other natural disasters

Required

Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere
A valid driver's license
Three (3) professional references, including name, job title, and current phone numbers
Transcripts, if using education to meet the minimum qualifications
Copy of Current Driver's License at time of interview

Preferred

Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain facilities such as buildings, transportation systems, water and sanitary systems, and other public works systems
Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations
Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance
