Electrical Control Engineer
NESC Staffing is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer specializing in security and detention systems. The role involves designing, programming, and testing integrated security control systems for correctional facilities, while managing project scopes and budgets.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end design/programming of integrated detention/security control systems
Commission and test PLC/HMI-based solutions on site across the Midwest
Manage scope, budget, and field teams to deliver successful startups
Work from customer specifications to design and develop security control systems
Program, integrate, and test PLC/HMI-based security electronics at correctional and commercial facilities
Lead and facilitate system commissioning/start-up, resolving issues to meet performance and compliance requirements
Serve as a professional point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing clear, diplomatic communication
Own project functions with minimal supervision, maintaining positive budgets and schedules
Coordinate and supervise field technicians and temporary labor during build, installation, and start-up
Qualification
Required

Design, program, configure, procure, build, and install the components of fully integrated security/control systems for correctional facilities
Work from customer specifications to design and develop security control systems
Program, integrate, and test PLC/HMI-based security electronics at correctional and commercial facilities
Lead and facilitate system commissioning/start-up, resolving issues to meet performance and compliance requirements
Serve as a professional point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing clear, diplomatic communication
Own project functions with minimal supervision, maintaining positive budgets and schedules
Coordinate and supervise field technicians and temporary labor during build, installation, and start-up
Recent hands-on PLC programming and HMI development experience
Experience designing integrated systems
High school diploma and a 4-year technical engineering degree
Working knowledge of security electronics hardware (e.g., door locks, CCTV, access control, intercom systems) is beneficial
Valid driver's license; ability to travel frequently by day with occasional overnight stays
Solid project management, problem-solving, and on-site troubleshooting skills; calm, professional client presence
