Northrop Grumman is a leading aerospace and defense technology company, seeking a talented individual to assist with engineering projects for spacecraft flight operations of NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory. The selected intern will collaborate with subsystem engineers at the Chandra Operations Control Center in Burlington, MA, focusing on mechanisms analysis, satellite performance analysis, and engineering tool development using Python and/or MATLAB.

Responsibilities
Assist with engineering projects for spacecraft flight operations of NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory
Work side-by-side with Northrop subsystem engineers at the Chandra Operations Control Center
Perform mechanisms analysis and satellite performance analysis using computational problem-solving
Develop localized engineering tools using Python and/or MATLAB software languages
Maintain strong technical communication and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs)
Qualification
Required
Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2026
Be majoring in a STEM
Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2026
Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in support of on-orbit operations is required
Preferred
Minimum overall GPA of 3.7
Prior internship or research experience in related field - Proficiency in Microsoft office suite
Ability to read and interpret scripted languages (e.g. PERL, Python, STOL) is preferred, but not required
