Responsibilities
Plans work and layout, sets up and fabricates a wide variety of intricate, experimental and/or production sheet metal parts and final assemblies from raw material
Includes shears, brakes, drills, sanders, degreasing baths, spray painting, silk screening, non-conformance, and manual mills and lathes, mig, tig and spot welding and other hand tools and equipment
Works with and interprets standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc. to accomplish assigned work
Checks and inspects operations against specified tolerances
Acts as a mentor to lower level peers and provides guidance on tasks
Makes recommendations for process improvements
Works on assignments requiring development of concepts and techniques
Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve explaining complex assignments, solving problems and initiating process improvements
Makes recommendations for new procedures
Works on complex assignments requiring development of concepts and techniques
Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
Often acts as a facilitator and team leader
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience
