Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer will provide technical expertise in overseeing network communications systems, ensuring maximum performance and availability, while also troubleshooting and enhancing network capabilities.
Manufacturing

Responsibilities

Provides technical expertise in the oversight of a public and/or private network such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide, local and storage area networks (WANs, LANs, SANs) and public switched telephone networks
Plans, designs, installs, maintains, monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots, modifies and supports network communications systems to provide maximum performance and availability
Plans, designs, implements and supports LANs/WANs/SANs in the areas of Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security and wireless
Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities
Deploys and implements plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies
Defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand
Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes
Keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices
May be certified in vendor-specific products
May also have responsibility for Network Administration including: Responsible for the daily administration of a network and server environment
Installs, configures, and maintains system software
Monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues, and deploys solutions
Documents network issues and events using standard formats
Plans and implements upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment installation
Uses scripting and writes basic programs to automate processes
Maintains and follows disaster recovery, security, backup, and restore plans
May evaluate new tools or equipment and perform analysis/feasibility studies to guide decisions on optimizing network performance

Required

Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
