Senior Application Engineer
Legrand, North America is a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures, and they are seeking a Senior Applications Engineer for their Starline team. This role involves designing and supporting high-amperage busway solutions for mission-critical data centers, partnering with customers and sales to create resilient designs and improve delivery processes.
Responsibilities
Independently lead technical scoping, translate tenders/drawings into layouts and offers, de-risk installations, and contribute playbooks or templates that improve speed and quality across the team
Design system layouts for Starline busway solutions using customer drawings, site inputs, and tenders; produce clear, accurate deliverables in AutoCAD (mechanical/electrical)
Develop technical documentation (catalog pages, FAQs, briefs, installation guides) and keep it current
Provide technical and commercial support to sales and customers—remotely and on‑site—including estimation, RFQ support, compliance/safety guidance, customization, troubleshooting, and installation considerations
Draft technical offers and verify application requirements (temperature, power, installation parameters, materials, quantities)
Lead or contribute to technical strategy for key pursuits; present solutions and updates to customers and internal stakeholders
Support project management throughout the sales cycle; help coordinate field activities with our Service Group during installations and commissioning
Mentor junior engineers and share best practices across the team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering — or equivalent practical experience in power distribution/applications engineering
5+ years in electrical or mechanical engineering with exposure to power distribution or busway/busbar systems
Proficiency with AutoCAD (mechanical/electrical) and strong technical writing skills
Clear, customer‑friendly communication and the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams (sales, service, manufacturing)
Ability to travel up to ~25% (primarily North America)
Preferred
Experience with Starline or comparable busway/busbar systems
Familiarity with IEC/UL standards and certifications relevant to power distribution
Experience presenting to customers and influencing technical decisions
Comfort coordinating field measurements, troubleshooting, and rework when needed
