Responsibilities
Responsible for the design, installation, administration and optimization of the company’s server and storage environment while verifying the integrity and availability of the data center and related infrastructure
Installs, updates, configures and monitors the server and storage environment, working with other IT teams to ensure appropriate groups and security rights exist
Ensures availability of the server and storage environment
Develops, coordinates and manages processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server and storage environment, including scheduled maintenance and unscheduled outages
Handles access issues and oversees the physical security, integrity and safety of the data center/server farm
Prepares standard statistical reports
Creates documentation when necessary
Ensures timely resolution of problems and incidents in accordance with customer expectations and procedural documentation
Provides support and assistance to peers during problem resolutions situations, at times after normal business hours
Leads crisis calls and coordinates efforts with other IT groups
Provides status updates to users, supervisors, and management regarding problem resolution efforts
Documents all solutions and communications
Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues while keeping supervisor and other Help Desk staff informed on progress
Administers and monitors systems within area of responsibility. Understands, operates, and maintains the server and storage environment to meet the needs of the organization
Maintains server and storage environment with configuration updates and product upgrades throughout the products lifecycle as changes or requirements evolve for functionality, security, or user needs
Develops and performs regular operational processes
Monitors vendor communications for product upgrades, enhancements, vulnerabilities, and product lifecycle events
Maintains server and storage configuration backups and recovery requirements and processes to support end user and organizational business resumption initiatives
Creates standards and best practices and ensures the server and storage environment is compliant with defined standards and operational procedures
Identifies problems and implements solutions by using problem management procedures, research, isolation, resolution, documentation and follow-up
May lead simple server and storage environment related projects
Prepares project plans and designs by working with peers, senior staff, and supervisors
Builds server and storage solutions by performing equipment and systems installation and configuration
Provides project progress reports and updates to the project tracking system
Researches, recommends, develops, and tests disaster recovery and business resumption solutions for area of responsibility
Assists with coordination, preparation and presentation of user training such as: system architecture, security, interoperability, and usage. Trains users, cross-trains peers, and prepares training reference materials and system support documentation
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Experience managing Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams and Entra)
Ability to work legally in the United States
Design, installation, administration and optimization of the company's server and storage environment
