Responsibilities
Acquire molds from their storage area(s) this will be done by direction of the supervisor or a prepared scheduled
Inspect the molds for damage, wax drips, holes, cracks and any other abnormalities
Repair the mold(s) as needed. Any mold with heavy damage, or excessive missing parts need to be referred to a supervisor for disposition. Any mold that has foreign material of any kind, i.e. loose sand, attached to it or coming out of it must be referred to a supervisor
Load molds in the oven in the proper quantity and sequence required
Complete the necessary paperwork to maintain control of the mold processing into the foundry
Maintain furnaces – knocking out, patching, relining, using established procedures and required tools
Remove molds from oven manually or using mechanically assisted machine(s)
Inspect and repair (if necessary), load into casting machine, or place in sand beds
Follow instructions given by foundry operator
Be proactive in safety, ergonomics, and cost controls, either directly, as on a team or indirectly through example and suggestions
Follow and work from foundry instruction card(s) and work instructions
Perform TPM duties as instructed
Maintain sand beds; clean and appropriately filled
Maintain and control proper classification of revert metal
Assist (as may be required) in metal control, and in preparing master melt lots for casting
Weight metal per recipe sheet to build heats
Maintain and accomplish inventories as may be directed
Ensure metal scraps are placed in proper containers
When conventional casting, maintain ladles on the preheat, and when called for, bring to the furnace in a shank and preheat with molten metal. Take full ladle and pour metal into the mold using prescribed technique, fill mold to proper height. Repeat as necessary to complete the heat. Always following the direction and instructions of the foundry operator. Once molds have been cooled, remove and place into bins for removal. Rebuild ladles as necessary
Strictly adhere to LO/TO procedures as required
Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets
Maintain a clean and orderly working environment
Inform your supervisor about problems that occur
May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Vision requirement of 20/30 near correctable
Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift up to 70 lbs
Must be able to obtain pallet jack and forklift license
