Responsibilities

Support and maintain the mission-critical applications that are essential for SPP’s System Operations team
Optimize the performance and efficiency of various applications and processes
Collaborate with a wide range of subject matter experts from across the IT department
Provide support for the real-time Market Operating System
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise
Leverage programming and development skills to contribute to the overall success of the IT Markets team
Drive innovative solutions, optimize system performance, and contribute to the reliable operation of SPP’s essential systems

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Information Technology-related field or equivalent job-related experience
Senior Level: Six (6) years of applicable Information Technology development and support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Level II: Three (3) years of Information Technology Development/Support experience
Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, UNIX or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems
Expert in one or more modern programming languages
Expert troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills
Expert written and oral communication skills
Expert working knowledge of SDLC and project life cycle methods and practices
Excellent customer service and organizational skills
Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

Preferred

Five (5) or more years applicable utility industry experience
Comprehensive understanding of SPP's core business model
