Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day support, maintenance, and monitoring of the server environment including on-premises and cloud infrastructures, NAS/SAN, and monitoring systems. Recommend and execute modifications to the environment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
Ensure long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning
Design, install, configure, and maintain systems, including web servers, application servers, software packages, and related components or systems to achieve high performance
Provide guidance and expertise on system installation, configuration, and optimization to other IT teams
Troubleshoot system issues as they arise. Monitor and respond to outage system alerts promptly to minimize the impact on the business. Communicate troubleshooting progress and issue resolutions to a broad audience throughout the outage and the resolution process. Upon resolution, provide a high-level root cause analysis of service interruptions and document recommended improvements to prevent recurrence
Lead and collaborate on architecture in small to large-scale projects. Projects that may be built within a hybrid infrastructure. This will require defining requirements, plans, schedules, and costs while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Document systems and ensure project success
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and occasional weekend maintenance activities as required. Be available to other system administration staff for technical problem resolution
Provide escalation support to the Helpdesk for all server-related issues. Coordinate with colleagues to resolve complex technology issues. Enter and track support requests in Lynden’s ticket-tracking system
Maintain Development and Test environments separate from the production systems for the purpose of testing and evaluating new enhancements, databases or application software
Provide leadership and/or mentoring to other team members

Required

5 years related experience with proficiency in supporting end users and administration within a diverse and complex environment
5+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the primary platform in production environments
Solid knowledge of the following: User authentication using Active Directory and SSSD, RedHat Satellite, Linux hardening, SELinux, and performance tuning, RedHat Ansible Automation Platform, Basic Azure cloud services including Azure AD, AD Connect, Networking technologies (Routing, Firewall, VLAN, SD-WAN, WAF)
Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell for process automation
Proven leadership experience with projects or products while working as part of a technical team
Problem solvers who are driven, self-motivated, and 'outside of the box' thinkers
Ability to independently and effectively learn, adapt, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated expertise in analytical thinking and problem-solving
Strong willingness to expand skillset by learning new technologies

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in related field
Container platforms: OpenShift, Kubernetes, VMware PKS
Version control: GitHub or Bitbucket
DevOps practices in hybrid/multi-cloud environments
Experience with systemd, journald, and enterprise monitoring/logging solutions
RHCSA/RHCE certification (or willingness to obtain)
