Composite Fabricator
Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. The Composite Fabricator will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and assembly of composite parts and components, contributing to the development of vehicles and projects as the company expands.

Responsibilities
Fabrication, installation and assembly of composites and components Including but not limited to:
Fabrication and layup of composite part fab and assembly using wet lay-up and pre-preg lay-up processes
Dry fit, sub-assembly, as well as integration of aircraft components
May require hand sanding of composite surfaces, as well as the use of various hand tools including but not limited to air saws, angle grinders, sanding blocks, drill motors, etc
Proper Bagging of parts to be put under vacuum to join plies and in some cases to ensure parts conform to the required tooling during cure cycles
Operating Knowledge of curing composite parts in ovens and maintaining and monitoring cure cycles
Able to Identify defects and notify shop leadership when defects are detected
Maintain assigned work areas in a safe, clean and organized fashion
Interpret and work in accordance with written work instructions, technical manuals, engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, etc
Operate related ground handling equipment as needed such as scissor lifts and forklifts utilized to work on and service the aircraft
Able and willing to work at heights above the ground 15ft or higher from scaffolding and scissor lifts
Able and willing to work in a confined space if needed
Qualification
Required
5 + years' Experience in Composite airframe and structure fabrication, installation and assembly
A strong understanding of the importance of FOD control and tool control
Detail-oriented – strong attention to detail
Knowledge of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools
Personnel safety mentality – not just work safely, but promote a culture of safety
Honesty, responsibility, accuracy, integrity and fulfillment of commitments
Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly to changing priorities
Ability to work independently, responsible, take the initiative
Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel as well as able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs
Willing to work Overtime, staggered shifts, night shift, weekends, etc
Other duties as determined/assigned by shop leadership
Must be able to wear a respirator
High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 5-10 years of composite aircraft structure fabrication and assembly
High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 10-20 years of composite aircraft structure fabrication and assembly
Preferred
Current A & P license a plus
Experience with high temperature materials such as BMI resins, titanium, and high temperature epoxy's are a plus
Experience with high tolerance assembly techniques, including laser metrology, precision tooling and jigging is a plus
Application, repair, and replacement of thermal protection system materials is a plus
