The Mechanical/Structural Engineer will conduct mechanical and structural analyses to support the design and development of spent nuclear fuel storage and transport packages.
Utilities
Responsibilities
Perform calculations in support of design, development and licensing in the structural discipline
Interface with designers, project engineers and other analytical disciplines (thermal, nuclear, etc.) to ensure the structural integrity of the design
Typical responsibilities include conducting finite element analyses on structures, systems and components using either commercial software tools such as ANSYS and LS-DYNA and/or by hand calculations using classical methods
The types of analyses required are linear and non-linear structural analysis, rigid body dynamics, modes and frequencies
Provide design solutions and verification methods
Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, design reviews, peer reviews and problem-solving meetings
Document structural analysis calculations and prepare related sections of the Safety Analysis Report (SAR) and/or Technical Reports as part of TN AMERICAS LLC’s licensing submittals to the NRC
Qualification
Required
Solid understanding of linear, non-linear, and dynamic structural analyses is required
Experience with ASME BPVC Section III (or VIII) Design by Stress Analysis is required
