Instructional Services Coordinator - Health, Sport, & Human Physiology
The University of Iowa's Department of Health, Sport, and Human Physiology is seeking an Instructional Services Coordinator to assist faculty with laboratory preparation and support. This role involves coordinating lab materials, training teaching assistants, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols in various health and physiology courses.

Responsibilities
Preparing materials such as human and animal specimens for students and lab instructors
Work in collaboration with faculty and other lab coordinators to develop new laboratory exercises or revise/update existing protocols
Coordinate preparation and setup of human and animal specimens needed for lab instruction and preparation of specialized equipment and technologies
Order and maintain supplies and equipment for teaching labs
Test laboratory protocol to ensure proper functioning and adequacy of equipment and specimens
Assist in evaluating student learning outcomes and proposing changes to improve outcomes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in human physiology, human anatomy, exercise science, health, biological sciences, or related field
Hands-on experience in a scientific laboratory environment, gained through roles such as an undergraduate lab assistant, research volunteer, or comparable academic laboratory work
Willingness and ability to work with human cadavers and human and animal specimens
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of audiences and across a variety of media
Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented service and support work environment
Must have flexibility in working hours, including some early morning, evening, and weekend work based on when laboratory activities take place
Preferred
Previous experience with human dissection
Experience with computer-based physiological data acquisition and analysis
Experience as a lead instructor/coordinator in an anatomy, physiology, exercise science, and/or health laboratory course or experience co-facilitating/co-instructing such courses
Experience working with animal specimens and models
Experience in implementing worksite safety procedures/plans
Demonstrated conceptual understanding and practical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, exercise science, and/or health
Additional education beyond the bachelor's degree is a plus but not required
Experience in managing programs and services, including implementation, coordination, budgeting, and evaluation
