Construction
Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with day-to-day management of construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion
Maintain project files, including contracts, change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and as-built drawings
Support Superintendents and Project Managers in the coordination of subcontractors’ work, obtaining work plans, reviewing submittal, creating detailed exhibits for RFIs; as well as ensuring schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols are adhered to
Ensure that the project is being built according to plans, specifications, and applicable building codes. Perform inspections and assist in identifying and resolving quality issues
Monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies on site
Assist with ensuring subcontractors are ordering materials, tracking deliveries, and maintaining inventory to ensure the timely availability of materials
Conduct regular site visits (50-75% of time) to monitor construction progress, resolve issues, and facilitate communication between field personnel, subcontractors, and project managers
Support the preparation and processing of change orders by tracking project scope changes and documenting variations from the original contract
Assist in preparing progress reports, cost estimates, and schedules to update clients, senior leadership, and project stakeholders
Work closely with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project team members to address project challenges and keep the project moving forward
Qualification
Required
Proficiency in construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk)
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Basic knowledge of scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
Understanding construction methods, codes, materials, and quality assurance processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, clients, and subcontractors
Ability to identify issues, think critically, and provide practical solutions to project challenges
A keen eye for detail and organization to manage complex project documentation and track project milestones
A commitment to upholding safety standards and ensuring safe working conditions on the job site
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (ideal, not required)
2-3 years of Project Engineer experience, preferably with a general contractor firm
