Responsibilities

Lead network upgrade, depreciated replacement, and network design for facilities projects
Lead physical installation of network and other equipment, configuring switches and routers
Perform network access and distribution design, equipment specification, procurement, project management, and scheduling activities
Produce engineering and installation design documentation, as well as test plans, as required
Create and maintain network documentation using Visio and Microsoft Office products
Review engineering products (drawings, equipment lists, etc.) for completeness and correctness
Coordinate network circuit activation, changes, and decommissioning on existing fiber optic and copper cable infrastructure
Document technical solutions, procedures, and standards
Lead Connected Real Estate (CRE) network projects
Manage service incidents and requests in ServiceNow
Monitor and manage the network infrastructure, perform performance analysis and reporting, and optimize network configurations to ensure optimal performance
Participate in the Major Incident processes
Perform network equipment firmware and software upgrades during non-business hours
Process incident and service request tickets on a rotating schedule
Provide 24/7 on-call support in a rotating weekly schedule
Collaborate in resolving complex technical issues across the enterprise
Collaborate with network architect colleagues to troubleshoot network connectivity problems and determine if they originate on-premises or in the cloud
Coordinate testing and troubleshooting of enterprise copper and fiber circuits
Provide second- and third-tier support for network incidents
Responding to and resolving issues with the network environment
Work with Michigan Medicine and ITS colleagues to identify and resolve network problems
Collaborate with network architecture colleagues to evaluate new technologies
Participate in developing architecture and best practices for wired and wireless networks
Participate in the writing and evaluation of RFIs and RFPs
Stay up to date on the latest technology and trends in the industry
Help modernize processes by leveraging automation and scripting to streamline network provisioning and maintenance tasks
Support the development of cloud network solutions in accordance with best practices
Utilize cloud-based network management systems, such as Cisco DNA Center (DNAC), Meraki, SD-WAN, and ThousandEyes, among others
Be committed to continuous learning, as our network team will be at the forefront of technological advancements in cloud networking
Attend periodic meetings with leadership
Participate in routine staff and project meetings
Provide status reports as directed
Read and respond to email daily
Be flexible and adaptable to evolving technologies and industry trends, such as cloud platforms and environments

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three or more years of experience implementing and managing complex Cisco network infrastructure

Preferred

Cisco CCT, CCNA, CCNP, or other network certifications
Certifications in AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer
Experience working with Cisco Catalyst 9300 and 9400 switches with dual supervisors
Experience working with Cisco 4400, 8000, and 9500 series routers
Experience working in a healthcare or other 24/7 enterprise network environment
Experience with VLAN, VRF, subnetting, switch and router configuration, and Cisco IOS code deployment in an enterprise network
Experience with UPS equipment used in powering network and telecommunications equipment
Experience with programming or scripting is necessary for automation and network management
Experience with network documentation
Experience with Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) using ServiceNow or similar
Experience with Cisco Meraki, MX 68 routers, and switches
Experience with Cisco DNAC, Meraki, or SD-WAN
Experience in troubleshooting copper and fiber cabling infrastructure
Experience supporting DHCP and DNS operations and technology in a large, complex environment with Infoblox or a similar management tool
Experience supporting Cisco's Identity Services Engine (ISE) and Cisco license management
Experience reviewing vendor invoices and submitting them for payment
Experience obtaining vendor quotes and submitting purchase requests
Experience implementing new technologies in a large organization
Experience designing and implementing scalable cloud network solutions on AWS, Azure, or Google
Experience deploying and troubleshooting Cisco 9000 series wireless access points using Cisco DNA Center
Familiarity with single-phase electrical power distribution for network equipment
Familiarity with Splunk, Syslog, SQL, or other log aggregation tools
Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
Knowledge of SNMP, Intermapper, Cisco Thousand Eyes, and other enterprise network monitoring tools used to monitor both on-premises and cloud infrastructure
Knowledge of electrical power distribution for network and telecommunications
Knowledge of 802.11a/b/g/n/AC/AX and the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz wireless spectrum
Knowledge of 802.11 wireless security standards such as 802.1x, certificate authentication, WPA, WPA2, and WPA-PSK
Knowledge and experience designing, supporting, and troubleshooting a wireless network infrastructure. Including experience with Cisco wireless controllers
Proficient with Visio, Microsoft Office suite, and SharePoint
Demonstrate well-rounded communication skills to interact with end-users, management, and vendors effectively
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels
Strong customer service skills
Work collaboratively with other teams and colleagues who possess subject matter expertise or business knowledge
Ability to work and prioritize tasks in a fast-moving and dynamic environment
Ability to work independently, manage time, meet deadlines, and provide project status
An ability to lift (or push/pull) up to 40 pounds and install equipment in telecommunications rooms
