Principal Software Engineer - Efficiency
Northrop Grumman is a leading company in technological advancements, seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their Efficiency team in Colorado Springs, CO. The role involves software development for innovative Fire Control Systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet system requirements and ensure software standards are upheld.

Responsibilities
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design and development of product software
Ensure software standards are met
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or a PhD and 1 year of related work experience
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Recent and extensive Experience Developing Software in C++ or Java
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
Applicants must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
Preferred
Kaizen facilitation, root cause analysis, SIPOC, and value stream mapping
Process risk identification and waste elimination
Training and implementation of Lean-Agile principles (Modules 1-5)
Development of RACI (Roles & Responsibilities) matrices
Jira/Confluence administration, automation, and CI/CD pipeline setup (e.g., Jenkins)
Programming expertise in Python, Java, and C++
Version control strategy expertise (Git, branching strategies) and Gradle plugin development
Team onboarding support, documentation, presentation proofreading, and dry-run reviews
Teams channel management and standardization efforts
Experience with Linux and Windows environments
Development of unit integration, end-to-end, and behavior-driven tests
