Responsibilities
Partner with Product Marketing to help define product specifications, user needs, codes, standards, and competitive insights
Create sketches, 3D models, and prototypes to explore and evaluate multiple design concepts
Select optimal design solutions based on customer requirements, cost, and manufacturability
Develop final 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks and related CAD tools
Collaborate with IP and legal resources to protect intellectual property and avoid patent conflicts
Work closely with Electrical Engineers to integrate PCBs and electrical components into mechanical designs
Drive designs through modeling, prototyping, testing, pilot builds, and first-article inspections
Partner with Advanced Manufacturing, Tool Shops, and Production teams to source prototype and production components
Produce and maintain production documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and quality/testing requirements
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to timely, effective completion
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required
5–10 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in new product development
Experience with electro-mechanical product design and high-volume manufacturing
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and document management tools
Knowledge of injection-molded and stamped component design
Ability to perform engineering calculations; FEA experience a plus
Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
Preferred
Familiarity with UL requirements
