Registry Technician
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Registry Technician to be a part of the fight against cancer with the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry. This role involves collecting and managing vital cancer data to support public health policy and research, ensuring data integrity, and providing quality feedback to field staff.

Responsibilities
Perform technical procedures essential to the concurrent duplication and management of cancer data files
Execute complex record linkage, multiple primary determination, and data item consolidation while adhering to quality control protocols
Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, recommend appropriate follow-back to reporting facilities, and implement revised criteria to maintain data integrity as national standards evolve
Monitor facility-specific reporting trends, provide ongoing quality feedback to field staff, and assist in the preparation of data quality analysis reports to support the bureau's public health objectives
Qualification
Required
Three years of complex clerical experience working in the collection and maintenance of vital events, cancer, or immunization registry data
Three years of experience as a Clerical Assistant 3 or Medical Records Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) working with vital events, cancer, or immunization registries within the Pennsylvania Department of Health
One year of technical healthcare data management experience and an associate's degree in a health or healthcare related field
An associate's degree in a Health Information Technology (HIT) program
Eligibility for certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) as specified by the National Cancer Registrars Association, Council on Certification
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
