Safety
Manufacturing capability
Physical and functional robustness
Unit cost
Lifecycle cost
Weight
Maintainability
Repair
Deliver definition packages that meet stakeholder requirements (e.g., manufacturing, project customers, airframers, partners, analysis teams), following agreed policies and using conventional and Model-Based Definition approaches within a Model-Based Environment
Create and use automated and integrated toolsets
When repeat design is anticipated, develop automated workflows utilizing house style, standard features, and standard assessments to define optimum designs for automated MBD, manufacturing, and measurement definitions
Support elimination of non-conformance, Zero Defects principles, and delivery of producibility in a manufacturing environment by:
Analyzing customer and program requirements
Incorporating manufacturing and measurement process capability into design rationale and manufacturing definition
Establishing and adopting lean principles such as standardization and house style
Improving design methods, rules, and tools to achieve robustness
Applying Robust Design, Systems Engineering, Risk Management (xFMEA), and Design in Context
Provide quality assurance through checking design documents, models, and drawings in accordance with the company’s technical requirements and Zero Defects practices
Perform analyses using formula‑based calculations and/or automated workflows for component dimensioning (e.g., stability, stiffness, profiles, balance point, weights)
Create technical documents that comply with process, knowledge management, information, and data policies
Enable through‑life Supply Chain Design and lifecycle profitability for mature product fleets through mechanisms such as:
Non‑conformance management
Drawing alteration requests
Repair instructions
Engine manual limits
Technical variants (TV)
Plan, manage, and execute external designs through design service providers or suppliers for complete devices (Design‑Only or Design‑and‑Make packages), leading to approval of all designs and documentation
Manage product configuration and ensure data integrity
Execute sub‑system integration processes, including appropriate use of Systems Engineering and Robust Design tools, to ensure technical attributes meet requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (not technology), or equivalent experience
US Citizenship is required
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design methodologies, with understanding of cross‑discipline engineering concepts including: Manufacturing engineering, Aerodynamics, Thermodynamics, Thermal and mechanical analysis, Cost engineering, Product definition
Ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters
Knowledge and experience with product integrity, liability, and certification frameworks
Membership in a relevant professional body (regional equivalents acceptable)
Strong communication and presentation skills at all organizational levels
Preferred
Mid-level experience preferred (minimum 5 years, ideally within gas turbines). Senior‑level candidates may also be considered
Experience in aerospace or automotive industries, preferably involving turbine blade or vane design/analysis
Familiarity with: Manufacturing processes, Teamcenter, NX, Ansys, Supporting non‑conformances
Candidates with direct gas turbine engine experience from competitor companies (GE, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, Sundstrand) are especially encouraged to apply
