Equipment Servicer

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Equipment Servicer to work under the general direction of the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System. The role involves maintaining and repairing various mechanical systems and equipment throughout the medical center, ensuring functionality and safety in patient care activities.

Responsibilities

Maintains and repairs all non-plumbing/piping, non-plumbing/piping, non-HVAC mechanical equipment and systems throughout the medical center including but not limited to: trash and laundry chute systems, laundry cleaning and preparation systems, food preparations systems, mechanical beds, hydraulic systems, and a variety of mechanical and hydraulic equipment items and systems throughout the medical center
Maintains and repairs all mechanical engineering support systems such as compressed air systems, vacuum systems, various pumps, and similar devices supporting vital patient care activities throughout the medical center
Performs electric arc welding and acetylene torch cutting in the maintenance and repair of the above described systems
Fabricates mechanical parts and devices to accomplish a maintenance and repair task
Performs preventive maintenance and periodic inspection of all the above described systems and equipment as called for by manufacturer's literature

Required

Evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position
Ability to perform Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications (includes blueprint reading)
Ability to use Measuring Instruments
Knowledge of Technical Practices
Ability to Troubleshoot
Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment without more than normal supervision
Physical ability to stoop, bend, and crawl for prolonged periods
Ability to carry loads as heavy as 45 pounds
Ability to work from scaffolds, ladders, and hard to reach places
Ability to work in dirty, dusty, noisy, greasy, wet, hot, and cold environments
Awareness of the possibility of burns, cuts, bruises, and electrical shock
