Dynamic Structure Design, Engineering, and Vessel Operations Deputy Group Leader (R&D Manager 3)
Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The Deputy Group Leader will lead technical projects and personnel while coordinating engineering policies and procedures, and overseeing operational teams involved in various engineering processes.

Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership with an emphasis in helping coordinate and direct technical work and projects
Establish, update, and maintain engineering policies and procedures following overall Conduct of Engineering guidance and processes
Assist in directing operational teams and management of the group's various processes involving vessel assembly, decontamination, inspection and repair operations
Demonstrated management and leadership of technical projects and of personnel with broad technical disciplines
Demonstrated experience in teaming, collaborations and integration across program lines to accomplish larger program and Group/Division goals
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated abilities to resolve conflict and to build consensus
Demonstrated experience in recruiting, evaluating, hiring, and mentoring staff
Thorough knowledge and proven engineering ability in conducting research and/or development activities, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting research and development activities, projects, and/or initiatives
Experience in use and application of consensus standards (e. g. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, Divisions 1, 2, and 3, API 579 Fitness for Service code, AWS Welding Code, etc.)
Demonstrated experience implementing Conduct of Engineering principles
Advanced knowledge of and experience in designing, planning, and executing research and development projects
Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated experience in developing and implementing technical requirements, specifications, plans, and reports

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Preferred
Experience and understanding of high explosives safety
Experience with the setup and execution of dynamic experiments
Experience in Regulatory Compliance of Waste Streams
Experience in Industrial Hygiene Practices and understanding of regulations
Understanding and developing Integrated Safety Management (ISM) processes of hazardous operations
Bachelor's degree in engineering or science (chemistry/environmental/industrial safety)
