Full Stack Engineer
Berkley Hunt is partnering with a fast-growing, venture-backed startup building the operating system for modern social commerce. The Full Stack Engineer will write high-quality code, architect core parts of the platform, and collaborate with founders on technical strategy.
Responsibilities
Write high-quality, production-grade code and help define engineering best practices
Architect, build, and own core parts of the platform end-to-end
Design foundational backend services, APIs, data models, and third-party integrations
Ensure reliability, correctness, and performance as the system scales
Ship quickly, debug thoughtfully, and iterate based on real-world production feedback
Partner directly with founders on architecture decisions, trade-offs, and long-term technical strategy
Help establish the engineering culture future hires will build upon
Qualification
Required
Based in the US (Los Angeles strongly preferred, but flexible for the right person)
5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, ideally within early-stage startups
Strong experience building and scaling production systems using TypeScript and Node.js
Experience designing backend services and APIs (NestJS or similar frameworks a plus)
Comfortable working across the frontend using React and modern frameworks like Next.js
Experience modeling relational data and working with PostgreSQL
Familiarity with ORMs such as Prisma or equivalent
Experience integrating and maintaining third-party APIs in real-world, imperfect conditions
Comfort operating in ambiguity and making thoughtful trade-offs without perfect information
Ownership mindset with strong communication skills
Preferred
Early-stage or founding engineer experience
Experience building ops-heavy, data-intensive platforms
Familiarity with real-time data pipelines or large-scale integrations
Experience shaping engineering standards and patterns from the ground up
