The Public Safety Senior Network Engineer will provide engineering and technical leadership, focusing on the architecture and integration of NG911 systems to support public safety initiatives.

Responsibilities
Review and evaluate software and network design issues, ensure efficient data flow, scalability, cost-efficiency, and application needs; design and code router/switch configurations
Implement new processes/functions on routers and switches, including but not limited to SIP, QoS, multicasting, NTP, VLAN configurations, TACACS, HSRP, Content Networking, and advanced network routing
Provide advanced network assistance in new project development
Attend Project meetings to assess Network infrastructure needs and required design augmentations that may be required
Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
Provide assistance to team members on technical issues
Create, oversee and test network resiliency measures
Communicate with upper management when needed
Maintain complete technical documentation, high and low level design
Facilitate technical designs and architecture discussions with clients
Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area, and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, or administrative duties in a voice and/or data telecommunications or closely related electronics planning, management, and/or service organization, one year of which must have been in a highly specialized capacity and 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity or in the supervision of staff performing work in the voice and/or data telecommunications field
An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent, scientific, technical, electronic or related area and five years of experience as described in '1' above
Education and/or experience equivalent to '1' above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the specialized experience as described in '1' above and must possess the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience as described in '1' above
Preferred
10+ Year of experience as a Senior Network Engineer
Utilize combined 10+ years of experience with strong design, deployment and troubleshooting experience with mid to large enterprise network design/implementations to perform the following tasks: designing and configuring Cisco Nexus and IOS range of routers and switches, designing and configuring advanced routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP), designing and configuring F5 LTM and GTM load-balancers
Cisco Datacenter Technologies (OTV, VxLAN, VPC/VSS, Nexus 9k ACI and Non-ACI modes)
Experience with Cisco/Avaya Wireless and VoIP technologies
Understanding of Network security technology (NG Firewalls, VPN, IOS base security practices, etc.)
Understanding of Oracle SIP/Voice Gateways devices and detail knowledge of the SIP protocols
Understanding of Cisco Collaboration Systems (CUCM, UCCX, UCCE, Expressway, CUBE)
Experience managing Infrastructure supporting Internet and Wide Area Networks with general understanding of Proxy, DNS, Domain Controllers, LDAP services and application dependencies
Strong understanding of MPLS protocols, Multicast BSR Designs, Enterprise QoS deployments, ipv6 dual-stack deployments, DWDM Technologies, LAN/WAN network design, and configuration, and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of IP/IPv6 based networks, subnetting, and advanced routing protocols is required
Understanding of Network security technology (NG Firewalls, VPN, IOS base security practices, etc.)
Understanding of Enterprise based protocols DNS, LDAP, Domain Controllers, Radius/TACACS authentication, VMWAre technologies (ESXi virtualization, NSX-T, AVI loadbalancing)
Basic understanding of Azure/AWS Express Route (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS)
Strong understanding of IP based networks, subnetting, and advanced routing protocols
Ability to write scripts in Python, TCL, Perl, or other languages is a plus
Excellent communications and writing skills
Expert in troubleshooting and problem solving skills
In depth knowledge of core routing and switching design using Cisco recommended best practices
